McCarty Customized Improvements is a rapidly growing construction company serving the Central Ohio area. The company was founded in 2013 with little more than a truck and a hammer. Since then, we’ve expanded to serve both residential and commercial customers, and believe that each customer deserves the same level of detail and attention, regardless of job size.
We believe the key to success is doing what you say, when you say you will do it, and we are looking for a like-minded working foreman to join our growing company.
Summary:
The person in this role will work directly with and under the owner of the company. The job calls for this person to be the ‘right hand’ of the owner. To be successful in this position the right applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Residential remodeling leadership, mandatory 2+ years experience
- Construction industry, mandatory 4+ years experience
- Leadership qualities; understands the importance of leading by example
- Hands-on experience and talent with a variety of residential construction tasks
- Experience reading blueprints and architectural drawings
- Must be tech savvy and own (and be adept at operating) a smartphone
- Have an eye for detail and quality control
- Good driving record (must be approved through our insurance) and ability to drive mid-size truck and trailer
- Excellent and effective communication (verbal and written)
- Meticulous organization
- Reliable transportation
- Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds
- Punctual
- Solution-oriented problem solver; can-do attitude
- Fluent in English
Pluses but not required:
- Bilingual
- Snowplow experience
- Product knowledge
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Industry software experience including Buildertrend, Google Suite, and Quickbooks Online
In addition to the above, a successful applicant must have real hands-on experience in as many of the following areas as possible:
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Drywall
- Paint
- Tile
- Flooring
- Roofing
- Exterior finishes
- HVAC
- Finish carpentry
- Framing
This is a working management position and the applicant should expect to spend at least 50-75% of their time doing hands-on work in the field performing the variety of construction tasks described above. Real technical skills are necessary to be successful in this role; theoretical knowledge will not be sufficient.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the owner of the company to manage multiple projects in various stages of construction throughout Central Ohio
- Coordinate and direct workers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Hands-on work in the field alongside a team of subcontractors and employees
- Review work progress and quality on a daily basis
- Maintain a clean job-site at all times
- Effectively communicate with the office, customers, and field
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
- Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve emerging ones
- Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks
- Ensure quality construction standards and use of proper construction techniques
- Run daily, weekly, monthly meeting with teams
- Assess team and company performance and devise plans for improvement
- Maintain project budget
- Adhere to safety standards

This is a full-time employee position. Pay is $18-$28 hourly, depending on experience.
